CamoLens is three engineering decisions made together: index, edge geometry, and surface treatment. Most labs only do one.
Refractive index
The single biggest lever for thickness.
A lens bends light to correct your vision. Higher-index materials bend light more efficiently — meaning less material to do the same job. A 1.74 lens is roughly 40% thinner than the stock 1.50 lens most labs default to.
Edge geometry
Polished, beveled, and tinted to vanish.
A thick edge isn't just thick — it catches light and creates rings. We polish every edge to optical clarity, then bevel and (optionally) mirror-tint it so the eye reads it as a continuous surface.
Coatings
Anti-reflective, hydrophobic, blue-light, transitions.
Coatings are layered in vacuum chambers — order matters, thickness matters, and cheap labs skip steps. Our AR coating is a 7-layer stack with a hydrophobic top layer that beads water and oil instead of smearing it across your view.
